Deep Roots

Today I discovered a new grocery store. Deep Roots Market. When I first seen the place, I instantly thought medicinal teas and incenses. Well I shouldn’t judge a store by its name! It’s actually a awesome local grocery store down the street from me with locally grown produce and much more! I was actually shocked and amazed! They do sell natural medicines as well as incenses, so I wasn’t that much wrong. The vegatable selection was great, grown right around the corner! They got this spice wall where you can scoop up your spices in bulk. As well bulk rice, honey, nuts and teas. They also had a section where they served hot and cold food. With indoor and outdoor seating, a nice place to have lunch.  There was a nice selection of fresh meats and your typical isles like household and snacks. With most of their products being organic! Another thing I noticed and liked was that they have events or meetings. Like Saturdays of this month they have a indie market with other vendors. I will be going back soon to have lunch and check out some of these events!

Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Long time ago my neighbors served a yummy dessert! I didn’t know the name of it or what was all in it except for strawberries. Recently I was searching for strawberry recipes (tis the season for strawberries!) and came across this long lost dessert! I was so happy I had to share this with everyone! Its been a hit every time I made it, so now I’m going to share it with you!

Pool Party!

Over the weekend I introduced Grocery Goddess at a pool party. Thanks to one of the lovely staff members, Natasha who gave me this opportunity. I was really excited and nervous but immediately got to thinking about what I’m going to cook. I knew I had to bring my famous GG wings. They were a hit at the previous pop up cookout.

Natasha and I
Few days before the pool party, I went and bought the materials I needed for my display and I bought my groceries the day before. I decided to make my GG wings along with vegetable kabobs, homemade kettle popcorn, strawberry pretzel salad & my refreshing strawberry lemon tea. I prepped the night before with the help of my friend Devin. It made things a lot easier for me until the stove caught fire (which scared the hell out of me!) and then realizing we got started too late because we didn’t finish until 6am.

My Display

Day of the party I woke up tired and excited! My dad came along with my friends Joseline and Devin! I cooked the food, packed up and we headed out there. It was a great crowd and I was pumped to set up! As I’m trying to set up, people just couldn’t resist coming over and trying my food! Once I finally got done setting up I got to announce over the mic who I am and to come over and try my food!

I was swarmed with all sorts of questions and compliments! Everyone was really excited and loved my food! It was a awesome feeling to see people enjoy eating my food and wanting more. I was also approached with a cool opportunity but you got to stay tuned to find out!

Strawberry Pretzel Salad

After most of the food was gone it was time to have some fun. I popped a bottle of champagne with my dad and friends and mingled with the neighbors! After being tired and almost burning down the place, it was a great turn out!
