I grew up eating hamburger helper. It was one of my favorite dinners served with a salad. Here I am still craving this dish but not from the box. This homemade hamburger helper is a super easy one pot meal ready in 20 minutes.
Homemade Hamburger Helper
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 4 tsp paprika
- 4 tsp salt
- 4 tsp pepper
- 4 tsp garlic powder
- 4 tsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups pasta
- 1 1/2 cup cheese cheddar
- 1 tbsp parsley chopped
Instructions
- Heat your olive oil in a skillet on medium heat. Add in your ground turkey. Break meat up as you cook and cook until it’s no longer pink.
- Drain most of the grease. Add in all of seasoning plus cornstarch and stir until everything is combined.
- Add in your water, milk and pasta. Stir then cover with lid and let cook for 8-10 minutes.
- Turn heat off and add in your cheese. Mix well then top with parsley.
Notes
You can season this however you want. I used cavatappi pasta. You can use elbow, shell or rotini pasta. Also use whatever cheese you desire. Add in onions, peppers or a can of rotel. This is a very versatile recipe!
