Creating Healthy Habits

Its super easy to get side tracked and be on your phone all day scrolling through Instagram or checking your Facebook. “I’m going to sleep now” *scrolls through Instagram for 2 hours* we have all been there. Studies shown that the “blue light” your phone and tablets give off messes up your melatonin. Which disrupts your sleep along with a bunch other health problems. Try clicking night mode on your phone if you have to be on it. Or don’t use your electronics an hour before bed. If electronics wasn’t enough then we have these food decisions. It’s easy to grab a dozen doughnuts than that super green smoothie. Fried or baked decisions. Candy or nuts. So many decisions! It’s so much easier to go that not so good route.

What I’m getting at is that we all should create healthy habits. Not saying give up all social media and quit doughnuts! Doughnuts done nothing to us 🙂 Let’s just create a balance between it all. Life is all about balance. I love to turn up and party but I also sit my butt down and relax. It definitely keeps me sane.

My healthy habits are waking up early and being thankful to see another day. I meditate for 10 minutes. Cook me a breakfast. See what my plans are for the day. I go to the gym for 30 minutes. Do what I need to do for the day and somewhere in there I take 1 hour with no electronics! I usually read or go outside with my dog. Also by trying to go to bed at the same time every night. It’s hard especially with the way my night schedule is set. But days I’m off, I go to bed same time. It took me awhile to get this routine down pack and sometimes it doesn’t go as planned. That’s life. But these healthy habits done so much for me as far as focusing, feeling a lot better and getting sh*t done!

Find your own healthy habits! Be creative, do what you need to help yourself. To love yourself. You really get to know yourself by disciplining yourself for the greater good. Hope this inspires you to create Healthy Habits.

When In Doubt, Smudge It Out!

What is smudging? A simple art of cleansing yourself and your environment, using simple ritual. Smudging is a Native American tradition but have been practiced ALL over the world! Our bodies, homes and objects around us are not just physical matter. They are delicately complex invisible energy. Cleansing our space or bodies by smudging clears up all the emotional crap and negative energies that gathered up.

You simply burn a sage bundle (smudge stick) or herbs in abalone shell (pictured below) or some sort of burn proof container. Light your smudge stick with matches or a lighter. Holding it up to the flame for a few seconds but gently blowing out the flame. You just want smoke.  Anytime Im smudging my home or object. I walk around holding the sage bundle, letting the smoke gather all around. Or around that object.

Smudging calls on spirits of sacred plants to drive away negative energies and put you back into a state of peace and balance. Sounds crazy? Scientifically burning sage and other herbs release negative ions that research linked to positive moods. The smell of Sage increases oxygen supply to the brain. Making muscle tension relaxed. The smoke from burning herbs changes the molecules of air and energy. The sense of smell is powerful. Burning sage along with other herbs have been found to be very effective aromatherapy.

Smudging can be done daily to ease your mind and help with meditation like I do. Or when your feeling down, anxious, fearful or just want a pick me up. Light up some sage! Smudge your new home or environment to clean it up. Bought something new? Smudge it to get rid of any possible negative energies. I salt water cleanse my crystals as well as smudging them too.

A Apple a Day Keep the Doctor Away

Some of you might of seen me on SnapChat taking a shot of apple cider vinegar. Might be wondering why would I drink such a strong not so tasty thing? I’m going to share some of the benefits but first please take note of this.

Make sure you buy the organic unfiltered raw apple cider vinegar. The one with ‘the mother’ in it! This is the one I use:


Don’t take no more than 2 tablespoons a day. I usually take one in the morning and one at night. They say don’t take it straight because it can ruin the enamel on your teeth but I’ve also read that gargling apple cider vinegar can whiten your teeth. I haven’t tried that. Also it can burn the tissues in your mouth and throat. My advice is to dilute your 2 tablespoons with 8 ounces of water or if you want to take a shot of apple cider vinegar, rinse your mouth with water and drink lots of water after. You can also incorporate apple cider vinegar to your diet by using it as salad dressing, add it to your juice or smoothies and soups!

Don’t like the taste? Try mixing 2tbsp apple cider vinegar with 8oz of water and squeezing in some lemon or adding 1tbsp of honey to slightly cover up the icky taste! Or mix in with your organic juice or smoothies.

1. Detox Your Body

Apple cider vinegar can help promote circulation and detoxify the liver. Acid in apple cider vinegar can merge onto toxins which can assist in removing toxins from the body. Taking a apple cider vinegar bath is another way to detox your body. Pouring 2 cups of apple cider vinegar in warm/hot bath water will help pull out toxins as well. Soak until the water gets cold.

2. Clear Up Sinuses and Cold

Apple cider vinegar’s many talents is to break up mucus. It definitely clears up your sinuses. (try adding apple cider vinegar to my allergy tea) Since it’s a antibacterial, it can also prevent sinus and cold infections. I got under the weather two weeks ago. I had a water bottle which I added 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and I felt better the next day.

3. Sore Throat

Even though it could burn the tissues of throat but gargling warm water mixed with apple cider vinegar can help soothe your itchy throat.

4. Digestive Aid

Sometimes we might eat something and will have our stomachs messed up! Drinking diluted apple cider vinegar can settle your stomach. Antibiotic properties and bacteria fighting power that helps.

5. Weight Loss

Consuming apple cider vinegar can you make you feel fuller and eat less. Acetic acid found in apple cider vinegar can also slow fat accumulation.

6. Energy
Potassium and enzymes in apple cider vinegar help give you a boost of energy. I like adding 2tbsp to my water on the days I work out.

7. Facial Cleanser

Dilute apple cider finer with water and apply to a cotton ball. Rubbing on your face can tone and balance your skins pH levels.

8. Natural Home Cleaner

This sounds crazy after consuming and bathing with apple cider vinegar. But mixing equal parts apple cider and water makes a great non toxic household cleaner! All the bacteria fighting power in apple cider helps kill those germs.

These are some ways I’ve used apple cider vinegar and read up on. I’m not a doctor and I’m not telling you to ditch everything and use only apple cider vinegar. But this is what I know from reading up and googling. Also from my experience. Always check with your doctor and use common sense!
